Review of The New Cadets.
This story represents compassion using imagination and some fantasy. The characters are so real! From these dogs—and people—it is wonderful to hear and imagine their inner lives. Their mission is filled with challenges and heart-filled promise. Children will be able to imagine the inner life of animals living in a human’s world. It also holds excitement as the dogs face daunting odds to carry out their assignments. Adults will enjoy the characters, too, and transformation process. Thank goodness for the illustrations. They add so much to the story, and represent the characters as living, breathing dogs. Thank you also for the “guide” to the dog characters on the back cover–so helpful! I’m really looking forward to the next book.
