Review of The New Cadets.
This imaginative book written by Marjorie Burns is geared to children, but it will delight dog lovers of all ages. As dogs individually enter the story, we learn about their background as stuffed toys and how they were selected to be Dream Rangers. The dogs all have distinct personalities yet are respectful and supportive of one another, modeling positive traits for children. The interactions between them are sometimes funny, sometimes embarrassing, but always endearing, and I found myself caring about each one of them. The illustrations by Carolyn Wilhelm are wonderful and truly bring out the individual character and temperament of each dog. I highly recommend this book and I am looking forward to the continuation of the adventures in Book Two!
