Carolyn has painted, drawn, and sketched since she was little, loving to catch the beauty and character of people, landscapes, and animals.
For decades Carolyn has studied the small changes in human faces as they move through different feelings. She loved sharing this by teaching classes in figure painting and portraiture.
Growing up, studying, and exhibiting in Philadelphia, then settling in the Pacific Northwest, Carolyn’s paintings have been shown in galleries across the country. For many years she was a member of a cooperative gallery, and then opened her own successful gallery in Portland, Oregon. She also created artwork for several books.
Carolyn now lives where the Cascade mountains meet the Columbia River Gorge. It is here that she met the author of The Dream Ranger books. They have become great friends and collaborators in portraying the escapades of the dogs in Crossover.
Carolyn and her husband have two old cats – brothers – and a young Corgi. Their dog Dodi teaches Carolyn so much about loyalty and fun and doggie ways. All that she had learned about the gestures and facial expressions in humans now translates easily and joyfully to the adventures of the dogs in these wonderful books. Carolyn is grateful that there are more books to come!
