The Dream Ranger is about the adventure of toy dogs becoming real dogs and of dogs attending The Academy to learn how to accompany children in their dreams. The readers meet different breeds and characters. They watch them go through all the ups and downs of school but also the challenges of a landscape that has Shifting Hills, a Variable Sea and the mysterious farther regions of the Lower Valley. What does it all mean? Issues arise, the dogs discuss them and act, sometimes enlisting their human associates. What is the shifting landscape of dreams? Readers can ponder all of this as they read a chapter and fall asleep.
